What is ParaVet?

ParaVet is a web-based resource centre for veterinarians who are interested in or working on parasite management and drench resistance on New Zealand’s farms. It provides a range of useful resources including

  • a discussion forum where members can debate important issues like refugia, use of long-acting anthelmintics and parasite control regimes;
  • access to a collection of papers and documents not readily available elsewhere;
  • practice newsletter material and other resources to assist practitioners;
  • accepted protocols and reporting tools for Faecal Egg Counts;
  • an abstract service providing summaries of important new papers and information on related topics;
  • easy links to related sites like SciQuest, Wormwise and WormBoss.

ParaVet has retained the services of Dr Ian Sutherland, a parasitologist who has worked in New Zealand for several years, to facilitate discussion and provide scientific integrity. ParaVet has been developed by NQVS.
